How does the 4K and 8K option work?+
When you select "4K", the tool scales your image's longest edge to 3840 pixels while keeping proportions intact. "8K" scales the longest dimension to 7680 pixels, maximizing detail retention for large displays and printing.
Why does the process take time?+
Cloudinary AI must generate a new super-resolution derived asset before it can be delivered. Processing time depends on the source image, Cloudinary processing time, and your network connection.
What images can Cloudinary AI Upscale process?+
Cloudinary AI Upscale accepts source images below 4.2 megapixels. JPG, PNG, and WEBP uploads up to 5 MB are accepted by this tool. The AI stage enlarges each source dimension by 4x before the requested final output is prepared.
Is my original image changed?+
No. The original file selected in your browser is used as the source for processing. The generated upscaled image is delivered as a separate result.
Which output formats are available?+
You can choose PNG, JPG, or WEBP from the Output Format setting. The selected format is used for the generated result and its download.
What does the 2x option mean?+
The 2x option targets double the original width and height while maintaining the original aspect ratio. The exact final pixel dimensions depend on the uploaded image.
Can I upscale an image larger than 5 MB?+
This tool currently accepts image uploads up to 5 MB. If your file is larger, compress or resize a copy first and then upload that copy.
Why can a very large image be rejected even when it is below 5 MB?+
File size and pixel count are different limits. This tool also checks the source dimensions because Cloudinary AI Upscale requires the source image to be below 4.2 megapixels.
Will the aspect ratio be preserved?+
Yes. The tool calculates the target dimensions from the original aspect ratio, so the image is not intentionally stretched to a different proportion.
Why does the download start quickly after I click the button?+
The Download button now uses a direct Cloudinary attachment URL for the already-generated transformed image. This avoids downloading the complete image into browser JavaScript before triggering the file download.
